FACTS ABOUT ALUMNI SCHOOLS:
Alumni schools independently create and manage their own ballroom dance program.
Alumni schools hire their own ballroom dance teacher.
Alumni schools pay a non-refundable $300 fee to participate in the DANCE CRAZY Alumni Program.
Alumni schools are able to utilize their experience from working with DANCE CRAZY to help run their ballroom dance program.
Alumni schools have their own supply of teaching staff that are now experienced with assisting in the childrens ballroom dance classes.
After signing a non-compete agreement, the alumni school dance teacher is given a copy of the DANCE CRAZY Syllabus and is allowed to use it in the schools ballroom dance class for the school-year 2008-2009.
The non-compete agreement states that the dance teacher will not use the material in the Syllabus to compete against DANCE CRAZY or Arthur Murray Dance Studio or the Dancing Fox, Inc. (and more).
The Syllabus is given to the dance teacher after payment of $300 is received.
The dance instructor hired by the alumni school is invited to attend the Syllabus workshop that will be held in the Fall of 2009. This workshop provides a review of the steps in the Syllabus. This review is intended to familiarize participants with the Syllabus and is not a class that teaches ballroom dancing.
Each alumni school is invited to send up to two teaching assistants (those that are scheduled to assist in the childrens ballroom dance classes) to the workshop, but only if these assistants have had ballroom dance lessons and dance at an advanced beginners level. This is because the workshop does not teach how to ballroom dance. Participants must already know how to ballroom dance.
Alumni schools participate in the DANCE CRAZY Competition held in late Spring of 2010.
- In order to avoid one dance teacher representing more than one school at the Competition, the dance teachers in the participating schools can teach in only one of the schools in the program in any given year.
- Children entering the Competition must be in either 4th or 5th grade.
- With regard to the Competition, Alumni schools understand that each Alumni school must enter 12 (twelve) children in the Competition. These 12 children must be 6 boys and 6 girls, for a total of 6 couples. Each couple will have one of the following titles: The rumba couple, the foxtrot couple, the cha cha couple, the jitterbug couple, the tango couple, and the All Dance couple. Additionally:
-only one school in the Competition will be declared the WINNER and
-all student participants in schools that do not win will receive participation ribbons
-it is important that the message from the school to the children and their parents focuses not only on winning, but also on the positive aspects involved with competing such as the respect earned and personal satisfaction that accompanies efforts to achieve ones personal best
-DANCE CRAZY will extend good faith efforts to consider all judging resources that are available, within reason and within our means
-it is preferred that experienced judges do the judging at the Competition, and the intention is to provide a diverse panel of judges, recognizing that this may not always be possible
DANCE CRAZY reserves the right to:
-accept or deny applications submitted for acceptance into the Alumni Program
-withdraw affiliations with an alumni school if the school does not adhere to the above conditions as described in the FACTS ABOUT ALUMNI SCHOOLS
